Performance isn’t simply your craft. It’s your heart. On display. For everyone to see. It’s your interiority surfacing against a foreground of community members and yowling: “This is what liberation looks like.” It’s concurrently a display of your strength and courage and vulnerability, and it’s deserving of care and respect — which is what I bring as a photographer.
