Rob Atkinson Photography | e-brochure

Hi, I’m Rob!

If you’ve made it this far in the process of finding a photographer, you probably all ready know this about me. But a brief summary might be in order.

With that in mind, I’m a documentary family photographer. Autistic ADHD’r. Twenty-six year partner to a beautiful soul. Parent to a neurodivergent kiddo almost as tall as me. Dog dad of two. I’ve worked with young children for 25 years. Both in the States and abroad. As an early childhood educator and a homeschool teacher.

Nowadays, I photograph for PNW families who want family photos that actually feel like their wild, remarkable, and beautifully imperfect romp through life… without the stress of a traditional family session. There’s no posing. No pressure to perform. No need for anyone to be on their “best behavior.”* It’s you, me, and a camera. Just hanging out. In your element. With loved ones. Photographing how your everyday organically unfolds.

*All moods, emotions, and behaviors are welcome during a session. This includes meltdowns, shutdowns, avoidance, or refusal to participate.

What makes my approach different

Using an approach akin to photojournalism, I photograph families with story-led photos in mind. Nothing scripted. Nothing posed. Just honest, emotionally alive moments. So yes, we’re really just hanging out! My hope is to create photos of the real you, so that when you walk past a framed family photo, you see more than directed poses. More than extracted expressions. Rather, you see something of our heart’s inhabitants. Something idiosyncratic. A look. A gesture. Evidence of a shared life. A shared love. And it’s felt!

Book a session

2

Sessions can be booked online or during an inquiry call with me. When booking a session, consider: what’s most important to have photographed. Where does it happen? When? And for how long? Then consider which session type you want to book.

Once you’ve booked a session, a contract will be emailed to you. E-sign and pay your deposit. It’s that simple!

Low-key pre-planning session

4

To best serve your family, I’ll need a few questions answered. This can be done in as little as 15 minutes via phone, an online questionnaire, or in person. Whichever works best for you.

Session

On the day of your session, I’ll arrive on location ready to photograph family life. You be you. And I’ll do the rest!

Viewing and delivery

Within six weeks of your session, you’ll receive a curated gallery of fully edited high-res digital photos made available for download through a private online gallery, as well as a print release. You’ll also have an opportunity to order loose or framed prints directly from your gallery. That said, some parents need support in the decision making process, so I'm happy to schedule a post-session consultation to help!

Legacy

Who doesn’t have access to their family photos 24/7? No doubt spread across multiple devices, you can access them anytime you want. But how often do you? If you’re anything like me, you rarely look at them because: (a) there are too many other apps competing for your attention, (b) you’re experiencing digital burnout and the thought of opening your phone makes you want to curl up into a ball on the floor, (c) not unlike content, they’re one more thing to scroll through and your “texting thumb” is flaring up, or (d) all of the above.

Then there’s legacy to consider. Will your kiddos have access to your collection of family photos if passwords are lost? Once the current file types or storage solutions become obsolete? How about your grandchildren?

With your session fee, you’ll receive a curated gallery of fully edited high-res digital photos made available for download through a private online gallery. Loose and framed prints are sold separately via your gallery. That said, some parents need support in the decision making process, so I'm happy to schedule a post-session consultation to help!
